Hello true believers!
I realize this little space on the web has been very VERY long overdue, but better late than never, right? The truth is that I've been going through a very rough year since I graduated college May 2008.
During my senior year I was so focused on making my Game King prototype as perfect as I could in the few months I had to work on it, I postponed seriously looking for a job since I assumed companies would come knocking my door down after creating such an awesome project. Unfortunately, I was also oblivious to the economic recession where more and more college grads were being overlooked and, inevitably, I became one of those college grads.
After I graduated I was left jobless for about a month, found a job for a company who mistreated me and used me for my programming ability until I essentially left them high and dry, and have been working 2 service jobs at a total of about 70 hours per week, so needless to say I have very little free time as it is.
As for my project, I had originally made a deal with my sponsor to continue with the project with his [financial] help through the Fall 2008 semester. He pulled some shenanigans on me and eventually pulled his funding/assistance when it was no longer in his best interest. I can't really blame him, it was a sound business decision on his part, but I can't help but feel a little betrayed. It was also around this time that Konami and UpperDeck started their legal battle and the mixture of losing my funding, losing my time, and possibly losing my favorite Trading Card Game, it started to seem like I lost all hope and I sunk into a very deep depression which lasted until about mid-June before Konami asked me to be a judge at the 2009 US National Tournament and I sorted everything out so that I could go. I had a really great experience there, and I was able to dig deep and get over my fears for my project and my future.
I'm still trying to find ways to fund my project, but since I really can't do anything about it in the meantime I've decided to focus on the technical aspects of it, going over all my old files and designs and seeing what I did wrong the first time and what I can do to fix it now.
Here's the video which I've posted on YouTube:
I'll try to update this blog on a weekly basis at the very minimum, and I'll do my best to reply to the comments posted here. Meanwhile, enjoy this little space of mine on the web, I'll do what I can to not let anybody down!
